About This Route

5 week bike trip in China in provinces Yunnan and Sichuan from touristic Dali to remote Yushu from 14 September 2012 to 21 October 2012. mostly I followed the roads of the OSM. This track is stongly filtered so may be a bit coarse. At the straight line I took the bus due to landslides on the section via Daocheng to Litang. End september was still quite wet (and roads of poor quality). The road from Kangding to Litang (The 318) was under construction and was completely muddy and tough cycling. After completion this will be a relative busy road, try to get a smaller alternative! All along this route you can pitch down your tent. In mountainous areas you may have to look harder for a nice spot ;-) The stretch from Litang to Yushu was not too busy and very quiet at some places. Temperatures were with minus 5 to plus 12 degr C a bit chilly. Though apart from some snow showers mostly sunny and sufficient warm. The southern from Dali to Lugu Lake part was quite warm.
