About two thirds of the route is along forrestry tracks. Passable on a road bike, but ideal for hybrid bikes.

Watch out for the places along the road where the road has fallen into the loch leaving deep potholes. In some places the road has gone and the stone wall is hanging there with nothing underneath it!
