About This Route

Followed cycle route 78 out of Oban (savage short hills) with diversion to Dunstaffnage castle. From Connel Bridge to Ballachulish, substantial sections were off road cycle route 78, useful as the A828 was pretty busy and narrow. From Ballachulish bridge to Corran ferry along the A82 the traffic was very heavy, the road too narrow for cars to pass a bike; I just chose to ride on the footpath. After lunch at Ardgour Inn followed A861, then B8043, A884 to Lochaline.

Highlights: Pretty much all of it except the A82, scenery was fabulous the whole way, however the tiny B8043 was one of my favourite roads of the whole trip; almost no cars, fabulous section hugging the cliffs along Loch Lhinne, wonderful long downhill run to Loch Aline.

Accommodation: Lochaline Hotel
