WO and D trail connected to the C and O trail (Purcellville to Harpers Ferry). Then follows the c and o into Washington dc and crosses back over to WO and D trail (Chain Bridge to Falls Church) to complete the loop.

About 50/50 dirt road and paved road

About 80 percent on multiuse (bike paths)

Traffic can be bad on 50 percent route between Purcellville and Harpers Ferry (the 50 percent closest to Harpers Ferry).  Also can be bad between chain bridge and Falls Church section of WO and D. Best to plan going through those sections when there is less traffic.
