About This Route

We wandelen door bosjes en over bomenlanen, langs houtwallen, langs ouderwetse gladgeschoren en dwars door moderne verruigde weilanden, langs akkers, sloten en beekjes. We zien onderweg het mooie witte kasteel Heerenbeek, dat begin 20e eeuw in handen was van de adellijke familie Coehoorn en we komen langs een enkele fraaie langgevelboerderij. Deze wandeling door natuurgebied De Mortelen is bijzonder door de rust en de stilte, het afwisselende coulisselandschap en de prachtige voetpaadjes. Het gebied is ouderwets kleinschalig. De naam \'mortelen\' duidt op weke, zachte grond. De Mortelen maakt deel uit van het Nationale Landschap Groene Woud.
