august 6, 2016, my third ride since getting my bike. biked queens blvd, to skillman ave (as suggested by the nyc bike map for bike routes).  originaly wanted to go on the queensboro bridge, but decided to detour a block back onto skillman avenue, and try for the williamsburg bridge. somewhere on the williamsburg greenway i missed my turn so had to detour back around again.  expained in the notes on the map.

 

i'm using the "Easy GPS logger" app on my phone to log the route as a gpx file to upload here.

    have to be careful here, there is no bike path yet, it begins a few blocks west from here.

    green protected bike path begins westward. in the near future, and the city has already started marking the pavement, the manhattan bound bike path extends further east, it's roughly marked just not colored in and protect yet.

  3. Point of interest after 3 km

    bike map recommends detouring to skillman avenue when heading west because--from this point westward--there is no signed bike path on queens blvd.

    decided to turn back around onto skillman ave. i wanted to go over the williamsburg bridge instead.

    got a bit lost here, looking for the bridge going into greenpoint.

    watch out for hipsters in the bike path. most exiting the park, and smorgesburg flea market at this location.

    whoops, i was looking for a bike path to get onto the bridge, and biked further than necessary, detouring back round to the bridge.

    there's a nice rest stop in the middle of the bridge, with a walkway between the pedestrian side and the bike side of the bridge.

    don't like this street, crowded due to cars turning off bridge. it has a green bike path, but there may be parked/stopped cars on it. beware of cars ignoring red lights, and turning onto this street

    be on the right hand side of the road to turn right because cars won't stop as they go straight.

    parking protected bike lane.
