20 - BOAT and BIKE da GRADO: ITINERARIO NATURALISTICO A TRIESTE / NATURROUTE TRIEST / NATURALISTIC ITINERARY IN TRIESTE

By using the comfortable Grado-Trieste maritime service, you can enjoy a pleasant boat trip across the Gulf of Trieste to the wonderful Piazza Unità d'Italia. From here we suggest an itinerary that will touch on some natural attractions: as you get off the ferry, turn right and head towards the Molo della Pescheria (Fish Market Pier) where the Marine Aquarium of the City of Trieste is located. Then head into the picturesque Cavana district, full of bars and restaurants for an excellent coffee (to be ordered strictly Trieste style!!), a quick lunch or an aperitif. Continue up to Piazza Unità and Piazza della Borsa and follow the route to Trieste's Botanical Garden, after about 3 km slightly uphill. Return towards the centre; turn right at Via Zanetti and head towards the train station where the Trieste-Miramare cycle path starts. Follow the cycle path for about 7 km until you reach Miramare Castle (attention: access to the castle park is forbidden to bicycles, which must be left at the entrance). Return along the same road to the Porto Vecchio roundabout; turn right and continue along the EuroVelo 8 Mediterranean Route to Molo Audace. Each cyclist rides at his or her own responsibility and at his or her own risk.

SUGGESTED DAY/PERIOD OF THE YEAR: The Grado (Molo Torpediniere) -Trieste (Molo Audace) boat service operates from June to September every day except Mondays and lasts about an hour and a half. In the event that conditions are not suitable for sailing, a substitute bus service with a bike trolley is activated. Tickets can be purchased on board the motor vessel and at all Core TPL FVG ticket offices. Single journey tickets can also be purchased from the TPL FVG app. If you have a FVG card you are entitled to a round trip (with a child under 12) to be made on the same day. On TPL FVG motor vessels you may travel with your bicycle (no more than one bicycle per passenger) within the limits of available space and at the captain's discretion. We therefore advise you to enquire in advance about the availability of the service, especially during peak hours and at weekends. To transport your bicycle, you must purchase a special ticket. Price round trip 15.90 € adults + 0.90 € bikes.

Departures from Grado at 10:00 - 14:45. Return from Trieste in the afternoon at 17:45. Transport timetables may be subject to change. Check them on the website www.tplfvg.it before leaving.
