About this route
Mit der Bahn (samstags und sonntags, 8:48 Uhr, Mainz Hbf, RE18847, Mainz-Alzey-Freinsheim-Neustadt-Wissembourg, "Elsass-Express") von Mainz nach Neustadt/Weinstraße. Ab Neustadt mit dem Rad am Hambacher Schloss vorbei nach Maikammer, über die Kalmit nach Lambrecht, am Kurpfalz-Park vorbei nach Wachenheim. Vorbei an Bad Dürkheim über Freinsheim, Offstein, Flörsheim-Dahlsheim, Alzey, Wörrstadt, Saulheim zurück nach Mainz.
Zur Streckenverkürzung gibt es unterwegs zahlreiche Bahnhöfe in denen man einen Zug nach Mainz nehmen kann.
Es bietet sich das "Rheinland-Pfalz Saarland Ticket" der Bahn an: 18€ den ganzen Tag bei einer Person, 25€ für bis zu 5 Personen, in den Nahverkehrszügen. Fahrradmitnahme, wenn es die Kapazität erlaubt kostenlos. (Stand 2007) Weitere Infos siehe DB-Homepage
