About This Route

  • Both Middlebury Gap and the Brandon Gap are extremely steep at the top. The way I did it (counterclockwise) you hit 11% average on the last 1 km to the top of the Middlebury Gap and another 11% over the last 1.5 km to the top of the Brandon Gap.
  • When I rode it (22 July 2010) road work was under way on the western side of the Middlebury Gap creating 20 km of unpaved road.

  • Upper Plains road is unpaved.
  • Branbury State Park on Lake Dunmore is an excellent place to relax and swim.
