About this route
Both Middlebury Gap and the Brandon Gap are extremely steep at the top. The way I did it (counterclockwise) you hit 11% average on the last 1 km to the top of the Middlebury Gap and another 11% over the last 1.5 km to the top of the Brandon Gap.
When I rode it (22 July 2010) road work was under way on the western side of the Middlebury Gap creating 20 km of unpaved road.
Upper Plains road is unpaved.
Branbury State Park on Lake Dunmore is an excellent place to relax and swim.
