This route includes a loop around Chropyne pond. As always a let myself suprised by the trip. The route starts in Kromeriz, near the city centre. Then continues to the west, under a highway and touching Slajza lakes. Next comes a garden area with a small hydro powerplant. Then the route goes to the other side of the Morava river a continues on a field route. After a few hundred meters starts a Chropyne pond. There is a nature trail around the pond itself with tourist shelters and an ornithological observation post. A castle is nearby. I think I did the trip in springtime in april. The place suprisingly was not quiet, it was actually pretty noisy. The place was full of white birds, a thousands of them. According the info boards this pond is actually a nesting site of a Black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus, Racek chechtavy :). It was interesting to stop riding and hear the birds. I have never heard something like that. It was uplifting, very funny. Reminded me of a cartoon laughter. Thus the czech translation "chechtavy" = laughing. The road continues back to Kromeriz on the exact way as it started. Nice, easy going trip, suitable for youngsters as well.
