Starting at Chertsey in the north, at the connection with Route 4, the route follows south along the road to Woking Town Centre (where there is a connection with Route 221) passing through Horsell Common and Ottershaw.
The route then continues south on to Guildford. Shops, cycle outlets, pubs and cafes are available along the way, with main facilities at Woking and Guildford town centres.
Leaving Guildford, the route travels south through Shalford Park and onto Cranleigh. From here the route passes the large villages of Itchingfield and Southwater and travels through Southwater Country Park. This 90-acre park has an adventure play area and a beautiful wildlife area called 'The Quarry' where you can spot lizards, Kingfishers, Nightingales and butterflies.
The route continues to Partridge Green and travels past Coombes, where you can stop off at Passies Pond Fishery. From here the route follows the River Adur to Shoreham, where you can pick up Route 2 and travel to Worthing or Brighton.
