Cycling route in Thames, Waikato Region, New Zealand
Part of Hauraki Rail Trail. Lots of intensive dairy farming! Very quiet (19 Jan 2025). Stopped at The Cheese Barn, which was not all it's cracked up to be in some blogs but OK. Nice wee room overnight at Pedlar's Rest Motel, Paeroa.

From Auckland Airport to Hunua

Mixture of signposted cycle routes and "quiter" roads though traffic diversions were in force on the day we cycled it (17 Jan 2025), making the roads busier. Decent B&B with Clair at 273 Paparimu Road.

Hilly to start but quiet roads. No shops/cafe until Milard Farm shop on the coast. All flat (obviously!) on Waitaka Rail Trail. Good accom at Lady Bowen Guest House, Thames (18 Jan 2025).

Pureora Forest Park to Ongarue
We had a good breakfast at TT Lodge and they sold us a packed lunch; they also took our luggage on to their depot at Ongarue, which is about 5km past the finish of the TT Trail.
