Georgia - day 01 - Tbilisi - Gombori Pass - Telavi

Cycling route in Tbilisi, Tbilisi, Georgia

Long climb, reccomend leaving early so you can avoid poluted traffic as you exit Tbilisi. There are springs on the way, in Ujarma right next to a small shop, and on top of Gombori pass right below the teahouse.   In Telavi we stayed at Neli & Zaal guesthouse. It was really nice and we would definitely come back to them. :)

Georgia - day 02 - Telavi - Torghva Baths

Cycling route in Telavi, Kakheti, Georgia

Tough climb, and the road is very dusty. There are quite a few springs on the way, resuppling with water is not an issue.   Torghva baths are a terrible place to sleep at, but the sulphur baths are amazing and make it all worth it.

Georgia - day 03 - Torghva Bath - Abano Pass - Omalo

Cycling route in

Tough climb all the way up Abano pass. There is only one good spring on the way up, make sure to resupply there with water. On the way down you will find multiple sources. At Omalo visitor center you can buy a paper map and various refreshments. In Omalo we stayed at Old Omalo guesthouse. A nice place to stay, with good food and welcoming hosts (also wifi and shower) but would recomment climbing a bit further and staying in upper Omalo if possible.

Georgia - day 04 - Omalo - Dartlo - Chesho - Parsma - Girevi

Cycling route in

Easy day, very enjoyable with lots of scenery.   There is a very good spring on your descent to Dart'lo, with has a few guesthouses and restaurants. Plenty other water sources on the way. When arriving in Girevi make sure to go down to the river and register with the border guards for Atsunta. We stayed at Guesthouse Nakudurta, it was comfy and nice. The hosts don`t speak english though. :)

Georgia - day 05 - Girevi - Kvakhidi meadows - Atsunta Pass

Cycling route in

Tough but beautiful day. Careful at the river crossings and with the shepherds dogs. There is a small unmarked on the map bridge over the stream near the shepherds shop at Kvakhidi meadows witch will help you a bit. You can also get some basic supplies there and wather from the spring. There is another good spring right after the "exit shatili" rock.

Georgia - day 06 - Kvakhidi meadows - Atsunta Pass - Shatili

Cycling route in

Tough push bike over Atsunta pass. There is a good spring a few km before you start the final climb. Fill up with water there, next good spring is way after you descended. We resupplied near the border guards post on the ridge. Where we also camped as the day was drawing to a close and continued the next day in the morning to Shatili. The trail to Ardoti is quite sketchy, ask the border guards for help pointing you the right way.

Tough climb, easier than Atsunta. We camped near 5th Season cabin, with a nice view to Chaukhi. Next day in the modning we descended nice and easy to Kazbegi.   Rooms Hotel Kazbegi is expensive, but worth every penny.
