Radrouten im Nationalpark Donau-Auen

The Danube-Auen National Park preserves the last great floodplain landscape of Central Europe over an area of more than 9,600 hectares. It spans the federal states of Vienna and Lower Austria. With its founding in 1996, this jewel was sustainably placed under international protection. Since then, nature can unfold freely here, free from economic constraints, and be experienced by visitors.

The national park can be visited for walking, hiking, cycling, etc., with no entrance fee required. Especially for the Viennese population, the area of Lobau, as a close-to-city part of the protected area, is a traditional recreation space. However, the applicable legal regulations must be observed: In the national park area, alongside the hiking trail network, there is an interesting offer of authorized cycle paths. These are distinguished in the terrain by the green marking from the purely hiking trails.

The offered routes run through scenically attractive parts of the national park and lead past observation and resting areas. Always use only the green-marked cycle paths with your bicycle. Avoid noise and reduce your speed – leisurely enjoyment takes precedence here.

As night falls, we also ask you to cease recreational activities in the area and wait for dawn in the morning before visiting the Danube-Auen National Park. This particularly serves the needs of twilight and nocturnal animals.
