About this collection
A scenic, hilly link between the Saar and Nahe valleys in southwest Germany. Expect about 94 km with roughly 1,480 m of climbing, rolling over open ridges, forests, and quiet villages.
Terrain is mixed: plenty of farm and forest tracks and quiet back roads, with around 17 km of gravel in the mix. There are a few short busier road connectors. Big views and wide-open sections make it feel like a proper highland ride.
Best on a gravel or trekking bike (35–45 mm tires). Strong road riders can manage, but skinny slicks won’t love the loose stuff. The climbs come in steady waves, so pace it out and plan a couple of snack stops.
Ride it either direction. You’ll pass through towns often enough for water and food, and regional trains in the area make start/finish logistics flexible. Spring to autumn is ideal; after rain the tracks can get muddy.
Great as a big day out or split into two relaxed stages with an overnight in a small town.
