Through the Ostrach Valley to Habsthal Monastery
Ostrach Valley to Habsthal Monastery
A collection of 3 cycling routes.
Overview
About this collection
Easy, scenic spin through Upper Swabia. This route follows the Ostrach valley on quiet backroads with a few short path sections, heading to Habsthal Monastery. Expect roughly 8 km with gentle rolling hills (about 90 m up), low traffic, and wide views over meadows and the Ostrach stream.
Surface is mostly paved/asphalt with a couple of mixed or unsealed bits—any trekking or gravel bike is perfect; road bikes are fine with a little care on the paths. It’s a relaxed outing for a quick ride, families, or a warm-up.
Start in any nearby village in the valley and ride out-and-back to the monastery, or link it into a longer day toward Ostrach or Pfullendorf. Be respectful around the monastery and local traffic. After rain, the short path sections can be slick.
Quiet, green, and peaceful—classic Oberschwaben countryside in a bite-sized ride.
