OverviewAbout this collection

Ride the French stretch of EuroVelo 6, the trans-Europe route from the Atlantic to the Black Sea. In France it crosses the country west to east, following the Loire, then the SaĂ´ne and Doubs valleys toward the Swiss border. Expect mostly paved cycleways and quiet roads, with long greenways on river towpaths. There are some gravel and unpaved bits, so slightly wider tires help, but a touring bike is fine.

Highlights: the Loire à Vélo past châteaux and vineyards, canal paths through Burgundy, the citadel of Besançon, and flat, fast riding across the Alsace plain near Mulhouse. Wayfinding is solid with EV6/Loire à Vélo signs, and you’ll hit plenty of towns for food, water, and train connections.

Mostly gentle riverside gradients, a few short climbs, and occasional cobbles in town centers. Great for multi-day touring or breaking into easy day sections. Aim for spring or early autumn for cooler temps and quieter paths.
