Overview

About this collection

0

Cruise the Slovak stretch of EuroVelo 6 along the Danube—rolling from the Austrian border through Bratislava and downstream toward Hungary (Komárno/Štúrovo). It’s mostly smooth asphalt on dedicated cycleways, with a few short links on quiet roads. Flat, well waymarked, and very beginner‑friendly—great for panniers, kids’ trailers, or an easy multi‑day tour.

Highlights: Bratislava’s castle and old town, the Danube floodplains, long levee rides with big river views, the Gabčíkovo dam, lakes near Čunovo (plus the Danubiana museum), and riverside towns like Komárno. You’ll find regular cafés, water stops, and bike services in villages along the way. Seasonal ferries connect banks at a few spots, and bridges link to Hungary.

Tips: expect wind on the embankments and little shade—pack sun protection. Surfaces are almost entirely paved, with the odd concrete or cobbled patch. Busy-road sections are rare and short. Look for EV6/EuroVelo signs and local Danube Cycle Path markers to stay on track.
