Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis Cycling Network

Explore the district-wide bike network around the Rhine plain just south of Ludwigshafen/Mannheim. It links villages like Schifferstadt, Limburgerhof, and Mutterstadt with a mix of paved farm lanes, quiet local roads, and plenty of paths and tracks.

Expect mostly smooth asphalt and concrete, with regular stretches of gravel and compacted dirt. It’s largely flat and easy-going—great for everyday rides, touring, or family outings. A city bike works, but 32–40 mm tires make the unpaved bits comfier. You may meet short sections of paving stones, loose gravel, or the odd cobble.

Scenery is classic Rhine floodplain: fields, meadows, forest belts, and levee tops, with connections toward the Palatinate edge. Busy roads are the exception; routing favors low-traffic options.

Tips: signage can vary, so grab an offline map or GPS. After rain, farm tracks can get muddy. Watch for farm vehicles and be mindful in pedestrian areas. This network is perfect for stringing together relaxed loops or linking towns without the traffic.
