2 Banks, 3 Bridges - Tour 1

A cycling tour with 4 stages, starting in Blodelsheim, Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine, France.

Overview

About this tour

A fun loop from Neuenburg am Rhein that hops the Germany–France border and plays both sides of the Rhine—two banks, three bridge crossings, big river views. It’s roughly 27 km with barely any climbing (~50 m). Most of it follows signed cycleways, with some compact gravel farm tracks mixed in. You’ll skirt the Grand Canal d’Alsace and the old Rhine, with easy stops for photos, snacks, or a quick coffee in Neuenburg or Chalampé.

Best with a trekking or gravel bike; a road bike with wider tires is fine too. There are a couple of short busy-road stretches—nothing major, just stay alert. The rest is quiet paths, levees, and riverside lanes.

Ride it clockwise or counterclockwise; wayfinding is straightforward. Family-friendly if everyone’s OK with mixed surfaces and brief traffic. Start and finish in central Neuenburg, so food and trains are nearby. On warm days, bring water and enjoy the river breeze.
