Ciclopista del Sole – Modena Variant

A local branch of Italy’s Ciclopista del Sole (EuroVelo 7) that swings through Modena and the Po Plain. It’s mostly flat and mostly paved, with long stretches of dedicated cycleway and a few short gravel or path sections. You’ll also meet some busy-road links near towns—lights and visible gear help, and riding outside rush hour is nicer.

Great for a relaxed day tour or broken into shorter hops between towns. A touring bike or a road bike with 28–32 mm tires is fine; slightly wider tires make the unpaved bits easy. Signage is usually solid—watch for ‘Ciclopista del Sole’ or EV7—and you’ll find frequent water and food stops.

Expect classic Emilia‑Romagna vibes: farmland, canals, and the option to dip into Modena’s historic center for a quick culture and food fix. This variant ties back into the main north–south spine, so you can keep rolling after Modena or bail to a nearby train station if needed.
