Lake Geneva Alps Cycling Routes
A collection of 5 cycling routes.Alpine rides around Lake Geneva (Léman) that climb from the shore to high pastures and back. Expect big elevation, long descents, and a mix of quiet roads, farm tracks, and some gravel, with only short links on busier roads. Views hit hard on clear days: Dents du Midi, Mont Blanc, vineyards, forests, and sleepy villages (don’t miss the Lavaux terraces, a UNESCO site).
Start wherever suits you—Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Thonon, or Évian. The routes criss‑cross both the Swiss side (Vaud/Valais foothills) and the French Chablais, so it’s easy to jump in from either country. A gravel or endurance road bike with 32–40 mm tires is perfect; confident road riders on 28s will manage most of it.
Best season is late spring to autumn; snow can linger higher up. Bring layers, enough water, and a GPS—wayfinding isn’t always signposted.
