La Belle Via Cycle Route

A collection of 4 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

Ride across the French Alps toward the Rhône on La Belle Via. This signed greenway links Lake Geneva to the Rhône valley via Annecy, Chambéry, and Grenoble, stitching together riverside paths, lakes, and lively old towns.

Most of it is smooth asphalt on protected cycleways, with some short bits on quiet roads and the occasional busier stretch through towns. You might find the odd wooden deck or tiny gravel patch, but it’s very road‑bike and e‑bike friendly.

Terrain is mostly gentle along the valleys, with a few punchier ramps where the route hops between basins. It works great as a multi‑day tour, or pick easy day rides between the big hubs. Trains in places like Thonon/Évian, Annecy, Chambéry, Grenoble, and Valence make logistics simple.

Wayfinding is solid (look for V62/V63 signs). Expect mountain views, lakeside picnic spots, vineyards, and plenty of cafés and bakeries for refuels. Best seasons: spring to autumn. Ride north–south for a grand finish by the Rhône, or start in the valley and aim for the mountains.
