Seetal–Bözberg Cycle Route

A collection of 4 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

A classic Swiss mix: lakes, farmland, and a pass. This collection links the lake-dotted Seetal with the Bözberg, rolling mostly on quiet roads and signed bike paths, with a few gravel farm tracks in between. It’s largely paved, but expect some unpaved bits—nothing tricky with 30–35 mm tires or a touring/trekking bike.

The ride feels like a relaxed full day with roughly 1,000 m of climbing. You’ll cruise past Hallwilersee and Baldeggersee, pass castle views around Lenzburg, cross near the Aare by Brugg, then tackle the steady Bözberg ascent before dropping into the gentle hills of Aargau’s Fricktal.

Good to know: most sections are low-traffic, though there are a couple of short busy connectors. Trains in the Lucerne region, Lenzburg, Brugg, and Frick make one-way plans easy. Snacks and coffee stops are never far—think lakeside kiosks and village bakeries. Best from spring to autumn; the pass can be chilly and occasionally icy in winter.

Bring lights for shaded stretches and short tunnels, and enjoy the variety—this route packs a lot of Switzerland into one ride.
