Overview

About this collection

Ride from the heart of Paris to the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel on this classic French route, about 450 km of signposted greenways, quiet roads, and a few short busy stretches. Expect mostly smooth tarmac with some gravel sections; a hybrid or touring bike with comfy tires is perfect. The route rolls out of Paris via parks and green corridors, passes the UNESCO-listed Chartres Cathedral, meanders through the rolling Perche, skirts Alençon and the Norman bocage, then drops to Pontorson and the causeway to the abbey. It’s scenic, doable, and easy to split into 5–8 relaxed days. Wayfinding is clear (look for Véloscénie signs), terrain is mostly gentle with a few punchy hills in the Perche, and there are plenty of bakeries, water points, and bike-friendly stops. You’ll find frequent train stations along the way for shortcuts or bail-outs. Best season is spring to early autumn; expect cooler breezes and possible headwinds near the coast. Great for first tours, family-friendly sections, or anyone chasing that magic arrival at Mont-Saint-Michel at sunset.
