Simcoe County Loop Trail

Simcoe County Loop Trail

Simcoe County Loop Trail

A collection of 10 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

A classic Ontario bike loop linking Simcoe County’s rail trails into one big circle. It’s mostly traffic-free paths with a few short on-road connectors, rolling past forests, farms, wetlands, and stretches near Georgian Bay.

Expect a mixed surface: lots of crushed gravel and dirt with sections of asphalt. Bring 35–40 mm tires (or wider) and you’re golden. Elevation is gentle (around 550 m up/down total), so it’s friendly for a solid day ride or a chill bikepacking overnighter.

Distance is roughly 150–160 km depending on your start point and routing. Because it’s a loop, you can hop on anywhere—there are plenty of towns and trailheads along the way for food, water, and coffee. Most of the ride is on multi-use trails, but you’ll hit a few brief road sections; lights and a bell help, and watch for crossings.

Best ridden late spring through fall. Surfaces can be soft after rain, and unpaved stretches are common, so plan accordingly. If you’re into long, low-stress miles with plenty of scenery and easy logistics, this loop delivers.
