About this collection

Cross-border ride linking the Scheldt to the Rhine through Belgium and the Netherlands. Think big-river views, canals and dikes, port vibes, and quiet polder backroads. It’s mostly smooth and paved with long stretches of dedicated cycleways; expect the odd gravel or cobbled section near dikes and village cores. Terrain is flat overall—your main “climb” is the wind.

Navigation is straightforward thanks to the dense Dutch and Belgian cycling networks, making it great for loaded touring or faster day segments. Highlights include the Scheldt–Rhine Canal, wide-open Zeeland landscapes, and waterside cafés. You’ll spend most of the time on quiet roads and bike paths, with only brief bits on busier roads.

Ride either direction to connect the North Sea delta with the Rhine basin. Easy to break into stages, with towns and train links never far away. Best from spring to autumn; bring a windbreaker and enjoy those long, flat miles beside the water.
