Herrenberg – Horb am Neckar

A relaxed point-to-point ride across the Gäu from charming Herrenberg to riverside Horb am Neckar. Expect mostly paved surfaces on farm tracks and quiet roads, with just the odd short on-street section. The terrain rolls a bit, so you’ll get a couple of short climbs and easy cruising between open fields.

Start in Herrenberg’s pretty old town at the edge of the Schönbuch Nature Park (don’t miss the Stiftskirche view), then wind through villages and farmland before dropping into Horb’s timber-framed center on the Neckar. It’s suitable for touring and fitness rides; road, hybrid, and gravel bikes all work fine.

Wind can be a factor on the open sections, so pack a layer and water. Cafés and bakeries are easy to find at both ends. Great for a one‑way day out: S‑Bahn and regional trains reach Herrenberg, and Horb sits on the main rail line along the Neckar, making returns simple.
