Paneuropa Route – France Section

A collection of 32 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

Ride the French leg of the Paneuropa (Paris–Prague) route. This collection strings together greenways, canal towpaths, forest paths, and quiet village roads as you roll east toward the border. It’s mostly paved, with regular gravel and compact dirt stretches—touring or gravel tires (32–40 mm) keep it comfy.

Expect a mix of traffic‑free cycleways, countryside tracks, and short links on roads. The terrain is rolling rather than mountainous, but the climbs add up over the full section, so pace your days and enjoy the café stops. Surfaces can change after rain, and you’ll meet the odd metal or wooden bridge and a few steps here and there.

Pick your stages: family‑friendly greenway loops for an easy day, or longer point‑to‑point touring between towns with bakeries, fountains, and train connections. Signage can vary—bring the GPX and a backup power bank.

Best on: touring bikes with racks, bikepacking rigs, or endurance road bikes with wider tires. Pure race slicks are not ideal. Lights help for shaded canal bits or short tunnels.

Highlights? Riverside stretches, vineyards in places, sleepy villages, and classic boulangerie stops. Sundays are extra quiet in rural areas—perfect for any short road sections you’ll encounter.
