Adda River Cycle Route (PCIR 03)

A collection of 7 cycling routes.
OverviewAbout this collection

Cruise the Adda from the lakes to the lowlands. This PCIR 03 collection strings together riverside cycleways and quiet roads across Lombardy, following the Adda River past parks, canals, and a bunch of cool industrial landmarks.

Expect mostly flat riding with a few short rises near bridges and villages. Surfaces are largely paved cycle paths and quiet roads, with some gravel and riverside dirt—ideal for hybrids, trekking, or gravel bikes; road bikes are fine with a bit of care.

Route highlights: the Lecco end by Lake Como, the Paderno iron bridge, the hand-operated “Leonardo” ferry at Imbersago, hydro plants and locks around Trezzo, and the UNESCO workers’ village of Crespi d’Adda. Near the southern stretches you can link to the Naviglio Martesana toward Milan or keep rolling toward the Po.

Signage is decent, but bring a GPX. Water and snack stops are easy in the riverside towns, and there are handy train connections for splitting the ride into shorter stages.

Best seasons: spring and autumn for mild temps and clear views; summer can get hot, winter is crisp but rideable.
