Montauban–Quissac Cycle Route

A collection of 16 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

A long-distance roll across Occitanie, linking Montauban on the Tarn to Quissac at the edge of the Cévennes. Expect a real mix: smooth tarmac and local cycleways, plus plenty of gravel tracks and farm paths. It’s mostly quiet backroads with the odd busier connector and even a couple of short push-or-step bits.

The terrain keeps you honest—rolling hills with a few punchy climbs that add up over the day. You’ll pass vineyards, garrigue, and sleepy stone villages, with riverside stretches and big-sky views.

Best on an all-road or gravel setup (32–40 mm tires hit the sweet spot). Ride it either way and break it into a few stages if you want time for cafés and swims. Spring and autumn are ideal; summers can be hot and dry.

Bring a GPX for smooth navigation. Services pop up regularly in towns, but top up water before the longer rural sections. A great way to cross Occitanie off the beaten path while linking two characterful towns.
