Trans-Pyrenees MTB Route

A collection of 19 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

Coast-to-coast MTB across the Pyrenees, linking the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Around 1,000 km with roughly 46,000 m of climbing, mostly on dirt and gravel tracks with some quiet-road links.

This collection strings together the classic Transpirenaica segments through the Basque Country, Navarre, Aragon, and Catalonia, brushing past national parks and MTB hotspots like AĂnsa and Benasque. Expect big mountain passes, forest pistes, rocky bits, and huge views. Valleys offer regular resupply and lodging, but high sections can be remote, so plan water and food.

Best season is late spring to early autumn; snow can linger on high cols and storms roll in fast. A hardtail or short‑travel MTB with low gearing is ideal. Count on a little hike‑a‑bike in rougher sections.

Use these routes to pick day rides, stack multi-day chunks, or go all-in on the full ocean-to-sea traverse. It’s a tough, rewarding ride for bikepackers who love remote tracks and long days.
