Dinkelberg Ridge Cycle Route

Dinkelberg High Altitude Cycle Route

Dinkelberg Ridge Cycle Route

A collection of 5 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

A short, hilly spin across the Dinkelberg plateau, the low hill range between the Rhine and the Wiese just north of Basel. Expect a mixed-surface ride: mostly farm and forest tracks with quiet country roads, plus a few gravel and loose-gravel sections.

It’s about 17 km with roughly 320 m of climbing, so you’ll get a couple of punchy ups and some flowing descents without spending the whole day in the saddle. Best on a gravel or trekking bike; confident riders on wider road tires could make it work, but the gravel bits can be chunky.

On clear days you’ll catch views over the Rhine valley toward Basel and the Black Forest, with orchards, fields, and shady woods along the ridge. Easy to hop on from towns around the hill like Rheinfelden or Lörrach—just pick a village on the plateau and roll.

Great for an after-work blast or a relaxed weekend loop. Pack a snack, spin the climbs, and enjoy the ridge vibes.
