Teuto–Senne Cycle Route

A relaxed long-distance ride linking the Teutoburg Forest and the Senne heath in North Rhine‑Westphalia. Expect roughly 160 km of mostly quiet roads and signed bike paths, with a few short gravel and cobbled stretches. Climbing is steady but manageable overall (about 1,000 m), with gentle ups and downs around the forest ridges.

This route is built around easy rail access, so you can start anywhere, ride it in either direction, and split it into bite‑sized stages using nearby stations. Scenery flips from shady beech woods and ridge views to sandy heathland, streams, and open fields, with plenty of café and bakery stops in the towns along the way.

Best on a touring, gravel, or e‑bike; 32–40 mm tires make the mixed surfaces comfy. Families can pick the flatter Senne sections; seasoned riders can take the whole thing over a weekend.
