Eisenbahn State Trail, Wisconsin

A laid-back rail-trail linking West Bend, Kewaskum, Campbellsport, and Eden. It runs about 36 km end to end with gentle grades—easy going in either direction. Expect mostly crushed gravel (around four-fifths of the route), with paved sections through towns and a short boardwalk. It’s largely traffic-free and well signed, with plenty of access points and parking. You’ll get a mix of shady woods, open farm country, and river views, including the Milwaukee River bridge in West Bend. Great for casual spins, family rides, or steady fitness miles. Wider tires (32–40 mm) feel best on the gravel, but hybrids and MTBs are perfect. Ride it as an out-and-back from any town, or shuttle for a relaxed one-way cruise.
