Huzenbacher See Gravel & MTB Loop

Forest-heavy riding in the Northern Black Forest around Huzenbacher See, a glacial lake above Baiersbronn. These routes link quiet forest roads, chunky gravel, and a few narrow paths, with plenty of climbing and fast, flowy descents. It’s all spruce and shade, misty views, and a neat stop at the lakeside lookout to see the dark, mirror-like water.

Start anywhere around Huzenbach or Baiersbronn; the loops ride fine in either direction. Go with wide gravel tires (40 mm+) or a hardtail MTB for comfort. After rain, roots and loose gravel get slick—take it easy and watch for hikers, especially near the lake. Respect local signs; a few short lakeside sections can be hiking-only.

Best from late spring to autumn. Refill water and grab snacks in the nearby villages—there are solid bakeries and cafés around. Want more? It’s easy to add extra forest climbs and viewpoints along the Murg valley if you’ve still got legs.
