Wiesental Cycle Path

Short, scenic spin through the Wiese River valley (Wiesental) in the southern Black Forest. It’s about 16 km and mostly on gravel and farm tracks, with a few paved bits and dedicated cycleway. Traffic is minimal—almost no busy road—so it’s a relaxed vibe through meadows, forest edges, and quiet village backroads. There’s some bite to the terrain (around 560 m of climbing), so expect a couple of steady ramps rather than a flat riverside cruise. Best with a gravel or trekking bike and wider tires. Works in either direction and makes a nice half‑day ride, a warm‑up before bigger Black Forest climbs, or a family outing with older kids. Surfaces can get muddy after rain. You’ll find cafés and bakeries in the valley towns, and there’s usually a handy rail line in the valley for an easy bailout. Prime season is spring to autumn; shaded bits can be icy in winter.
