F7 Cycle Highway Ghent-Kortrijk (proposed)

A flat, fast bike link across Flanders, the F7 connects Ghent and Kortrijk along the Leie/Lys corridor. It’s built for everyday riding—commutes, fitness spins, and easy day trips. Expect mostly paved surface (lots of asphalt and concrete) with occasional short patches of paving stones or light gravel. The route mixes dedicated cycleways with quiet local roads, with only brief hops on busier streets.

This relation is a wenslijn (proposed alignment), so some sections may still be in progress or detour via local streets. Navigation is straightforward, but expect minor gaps while works and upgrades roll out.

Terrain is basically flat, so it’s beginner-friendly and great for steady cruising. You’ll ride through green river landscapes and suburban edges between two lively cities with easy train connections at both ends. Good to know: mostly paved, very low elevation change, and suitable for most tires; wider tires make the few unpaved bits comfy.
