Overview

About this collection

A classic cross-Switzerland ride from Romanshorn on Lake Constance to Lausanne on Lake Geneva. Around 370 km across the Swiss Plateau, mostly gentle and rolling, and fully signposted as National Route 5. Expect a mix of quiet roads, cycleways, and farm tracks—mostly paved with some gravel—so touring bikes and e-bikes are perfect; 32–40 mm tires keep it comfy.

The route threads through fields, orchards, and riverside sections along the Aare, linking pretty towns and cities like Solothurn, Biel/Bienne (hello bilingual vibes), and Murten. You’ll get lakeside stretches, open farmland, and a smooth slide into French-speaking Romandie before the final roll into Lausanne.

It’s easy to split into 7-ish stages, with excellent train links for shortcuts or bailouts. Best ridden spring to autumn; wind can pick up across the plateau, but gradients stay friendly.

If you want a relaxed long-distance ride with real Swiss variety, reliable wayfinding, and great logistics, this one’s hard to beat.
