Trans Sardinia Bikepacking

A collection of 12 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

A cross-island bikepacking collection linking Sardinia’s wild interior with its coasts. Expect mostly unpaved riding: long stretches of farm and forest tracks, plenty of gravel and rough ground, with quiet-road connectors and the odd busier link where needed. Dedicated cycleways are rare, so ride alert in traffic sections.

This is a multi-day adventure with lots of climbing and remote feel in places. You’ll roll past cork oak woods, rocky hills, shepherd land, and small villages where you can top up water and snacks. Summer gets hot; spring and autumn are friendlier. After rain, dirt sections can turn sticky.

Best on a gravel bike with tough tires (40 mm+) or an MTB if you’re loaded. Pack spares, lights, and enough water between towns. The collection lets you mix tougher off-road segments with easier road options, so you can dial the effort to your mood. If you like big days, rough surfaces, and island vibes, this one delivers.
