Fontane.Rad Hauptroute

A collection of 10 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

The Fontane.Rad main route takes you across Brandenburg – inspired by Theodor Fontane's 'Wanderings through the March of Brandenburg'. You ride mostly on asphalt and other solid surfaces; in between, there are short stretches of gravel or cobblestones. The profile is mostly flat and easy rolling.

The paths alternate between bike paths, quiet side roads, and farm tracks; occasionally, you’ll also touch on a busier street. A trekking or gravel bike with slightly wider tires makes for a relaxed ride.

Start and finish are flexible – you can practically join anywhere and split the tour into comfortable stages. Along the way, you’ll encounter typical Brandenburg scenery with wide-open spaces, forests, rivers, and historic sites that recall Fontane's stories.

Ideal for those who want to combine nature and culture. Pack enough water, check your lights for possible forest sections, and allow time for breaks. This route invites exploration rather than rushing.
