About this collection

The Oranjefietsroute is a pleasant collection of rides featuring many quiet roads and dedicated bike paths, interspersed with sections on trails and country roads. The surface is nicely varied: mostly paved (asphalt and cobblestones), but also gravel, loose stones, and here and there some sand or wooden bridges. This makes it suitable for those who enjoy cycling off the beaten track.

There is no fixed start or finish, so you can join wherever it suits you and combine stages into a day loop or a short multi-day trip. Keep in mind that you occasionally cross or briefly follow a busier road. After rain, some unpaved sections may become muddy.

Practical tips:

  • Comfortable tires (at least 35–40 mm) are nice for gravel and sand.
  • Bring a map or GPS track; the route frequently changes surface and road type.
  • A basic repair kit and lights are handy, especially if you ride later in the day.
