Canal du Centre: Digoin–Chalon-sur-Saône

Ride the Canal du Centre from Digoin to Chalon-sur-Saône through classic Burgundy scenery. This canal links the Loire and Saône basins, with long waterside stretches, quiet back roads, and a few short busier bits near towns. Expect easygoing pedaling by locks and ponds, vineyards around Santenay/Remigny, and a relaxed roll into riverside Chalon.

Handy stops are never far: Paray-le-Monial, Montceau-les-Mines, Chagny, and Chalon all make great coffee or lunch breaks. Surfaces are mostly paved, with some mixed sections, so wider tires are a nice bonus.
