Illinois Prairie Path

A classic rail-trail network in northeastern Illinois, great for easygoing miles and everyday rides. The collection covers roughly 93 km, mostly on traffic-free paths with a few short links on quiet roads. Surfaces are mixed—paved in many sections with stretches of firm gravel and the occasional wooden bridge—so it rides well on hybrids, gravel bikes, and road bikes with slightly wider tires. The route is generally flat, with gentle grades and frequent crossings, making it friendly for families and casual riders as well as longer day rides. Pick a segment for a quick spin or string together multiple branches for a bigger adventure. Expect a green, suburban vibe and plenty of access points along the way.
