EuroVelo 3 – Pilgrims Route (Norway)

A collection of 18 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

Ride the Norwegian section of EuroVelo 3, the Pilgrims Route—a scenic, north–south link with big views, quiet towns, and a touch of pilgrimage history. The surfaces are mostly paved, with some gravel stretches, and the route mixes dedicated cycleways with regular roads, so expect traffic in spots. Terrain varies from gentle rolling to punchy climbs and long descents, keeping things interesting without getting too technical.

This collection works for a full tour or for picking a favorite weekend segment. A touring or gravel bike with comfy tires is perfect. Summer brings long daylight and generally friendlier weather, but conditions can change fast—pack layers, lights, and a solid rain plan.

Waymarking can be patchy in places, so bring a good map or GPS. Services are easy to find in towns, but spacing can stretch out in rural sections—plan water and snacks. Whether you’re chasing distance or just savoring Norway’s forests, lakes, and open landscapes, this stretch sets you up nicely for the wider EuroVelo 3 journey across Europe.
