Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail
A collection of 6 cycling routes.Long, mostly car‑free riding across Ontario’s Ottawa Valley. This collection follows a former rail corridor, so grades are gentle and navigation is straightforward. Expect long stretches of compacted gravel with some looser patches, plus the odd short paved or wooden section. Road links are rare and usually quiet.
Great for relaxed day rides or a multi‑day bikepacking roll. Wider tires (35–45 mm+ or MTB) make the loose gravel easier and more fun. Services appear in towns along the way, but gaps can be long—carry water and snacks. Watch for gates, road crossings, and other trail users.
Surfaces: mostly unpaved/gravel with very little pavement. Way types: primarily dedicated path and cycleway with only brief road sections. Elevation stays mellow across the valley with small ups and downs.
Check local conditions and seasonal use before you go—surface quality and access can change with weather and maintenance.
