Rhine Valley Bike Routes

A collection of 4 cycling routes.

Overview

About this collection

A relaxed mix of riverside riding through the Rhine Valley, linking towns and farmland with plenty of river views. Expect mostly smooth asphalt with long gravel and track sections—great for touring and gravel bikes; road bikes are fine with a bit of care on the rougher bits.

The collection leans toward quiet roads and farm tracks, with a few short busy links where the route hops between villages. Despite the “valley” name, there are some punchy climbs and rolling sections, so you’ll get a good workout alongside the flat river stretches.

It’s an easy one to tailor: pick shorter riverside segments for a chilled spin or combine sections for a bigger day out. Look out for bridges, floodplain paths, and wide-open views to the surrounding hills. Surfaces and conditions can change after rain on the gravel parts, so wider tires help.

Bring lights for tunnels or shaded sections, and pack snacks—services cluster in towns. Simple, scenic, and versatile riding along one of Europe’s great river corridors.
