The path uses many quiet streets, paths, and bike lanes, with only occasional stretches on busier roads. The profile is mostly flat to gently rolling – perfect for leisure riders, touring bikes, and those with luggage. Plan for 3 to 5 stages depending on your mood and time. Highlights along the way: the Wartburg city Eisenach, Erfurt’s old town, the classical city of Weimar, and the university city of Jena. The route can be adjusted or shortened by city – also ideal for weekend trips. Just hop on, discover Thuringia from west to east (or vice versa), and chain the cities together.
