About this tour

Snelle, bijna vlakke doorsteek langs de Ringvaart rond Gent, van Lovendegem tot Melle. Deze F40-sectie volgt het kanaal en gebruikt vooral vrijliggende fietspaden, vaak asfalt, met weinig kruisingen. Ideaal voor woon-werk of een ontspannen ritje langs het water; je trapt vlot door, hooguit wat wind in de open stukken.

Onderweg zijn er eenvoudige aftakkingen naar Gent en omliggende gemeenten. Reken op kanaalzicht, rechte lijnen en een duidelijk traject zonder noemenswaardige hellingen.

Let op: in OSM staat dit deels als wenslijn, dus sommige stukken kunnen nog in ontwikkeling zijn. Check ter plekke of recente kaarten als je strak wil plannen.

Cycling route in Merelbeke, Flemish Region, Belgium

Quick hop on the F40 around Gent: from Merelbeke to Melle via the Ringvaart south side. About 4.9 km, mostly flat and easy, perfect for a short commute or warm-up spin (15-20 min). Expect canal-side riding with few crossings; as this is a wenslijn, bits may follow local streets until the fast route is completed. Merelbeke's leafy edges flow into Melle's quiet center with shops and trains. Great link to the broader F40 ring.
