Berlin–Hameln Radweg

A collection of 11 cycling routes.
OverviewAbout this collection

From the hustle and bustle of the capital on the Spree to the Weserbergland: This route connects Berlin with Hameln on the Weser. Ideal as a multi-day tour, easily rideable in both directions.

The route is mostly paved, with lots of asphalt and concrete. However, there are noticeable sections on gravel, cobblestones, and some sand in places. You ride partly on farm roads and paths, partly on streets — including busier ones. Dedicated bike paths are only present on some stretches, so ride attentively.

A trekking or gravel bike is best suited. Wider tires make the gravel and cobblestone sections much more comfortable. Road bikes are only suitable to a limited extent.

Along the way, the scenery changes from urban areas in Berlin to quiet fields, forests, and lakes in Brandenburg and Lower Saxony. At the destination, Hameln awaits with timber-framed houses and Pied Piper charm.

Tip: Plan stages to avoid busier sections during peak times, and bring lights and a high-visibility vest.
